Best strapless and multiway bras in the UK

By the buychecked team · Updated 9 October 2026 · Prices refresh daily from the retailer feed

A strapless bra has to do all of its work with the band. With no straps taking any of the weight, it relies on a firm underband, a wide back, some kind of grip against the skin and a cup shape that does not tip forward. When one of those is missing, you get the familiar problem of a bra that slides down by mid-evening.

For most people the Simone Perele Caresse is the best place to start. It has a breathable spacer cup, a silicone grip along the upper back and detachable straps, and it is currently listed across a wider run of sizes than almost anything else in our strapless range. If you are a G cup or above, look at the Goddess Verity, which uses boning, three-section cups and powernet wings. If you want one bra that also works as a halterneck or racerback, the Curvy Kate Superhero is the most adaptable option here.

Below are seven strapless and multiway bras across budget, mid-range and premium price bands, followed by advice on band fit, grip, cup construction and what to check before you order. Many of these listings show only one or two sizes in stock at a time, so always check your size is available before you set your heart on one.

How we chose

We have not tried these bras on or tested them in person. We shortlisted them by comparing the published specifications, construction details, materials, size availability, price and the retailer's own product information across all the strapless and multiway bras we list, then picked the ones that offer something distinct for a particular shopper. We paid most attention to the features that keep a strapless bra in place, such as silicone grip, band width, boning and the number of hook rows, because those are what the descriptions can tell you reliably. Where the retailer data is thin or contradicts itself, we say so and suggest what to check.

1. Best for fuller busts

Goddess Verity Strapless Bra - Rosewood

Goddess Verity Strapless Bra - Rosewood

£43.00 at Belle Lingerie · best for G cups and above who need real structure

Goddess designs specifically for larger busts, and the Verity strapless shows it in the construction. The cups are lined and made in three sections, which gives more shaping and support than a single moulded piece, and they are underwired. At the back, flexi-bones and powernet wings help the band stay upright and firm instead of rolling, which is the main reason strapless bras fail in fuller cup sizes. The straps are removable and multiway, with slide and hook adjusters. A Chantilly-style lace overlay and a bow at the centre make it look more like a lingerie piece than a purely practical one. It is in the mid-range price band, and the current listing shows a 32G.

✓ Pros

  • Built for larger busts with three-part underwired cups
  • Boning and powernet wings for a firmer band
  • Removable multiway straps
  • Matching briefs available

✕ Cons

  • Very limited size choice listed at the moment
  • Seamed lace cups will not give the smoothest line under thin fabrics

2. Best budget

Sculptresse by Panache Dana Strapless Bra - Caramel

Sculptresse by Panache Dana Strapless Bra - Caramel

£14.40 at Belle Lingerie · best for a low-cost strapless bra with a reinforced back

Sculptresse is Panache's line for fuller figures, and the Dana strapless is one of the lowest-priced bras in our strapless range. The retailer describes a wide back panel reinforced with supportive structures and extra closures for a stronger hold, which is exactly where a strapless bra needs to be stronger than a standard one. The cups are full coverage, underwired and plain, so they should sit smoothly under clothes, and there is a small bow at the centre. Because it costs less than most, it is a sensible choice if you only need a strapless bra occasionally for a dress or an off-the-shoulder top. The current listing is a 34E.

✓ Pros

  • Budget price band
  • Reinforced wide back with additional closures
  • Full coverage, underwired plain cups

✕ Cons

  • No mention of silicone grip in the description
  • Single size currently listed

3. Best multiway

Curvy Kate Superhero Multiway Padded Plunge Bra - Latte

Curvy Kate Superhero Multiway Padded Plunge Bra - Latte

£30.60 at Belle Lingerie · best for awkward necklines and backless tops

If you want one bra to cover several tricky outfits, the Curvy Kate Superhero is the most adaptable here. The retailer lists five ways to wear it: halter, racerback, one shoulder, backless and strapless. It also comes with a low back extender, which lets the band drop lower on your back for open-backed dresses. The cups are padded and foam lined for a smooth shape and are underwired, with a plunge front that suits V-necks. Curvy Kate focuses on D cups and above, so this is a good option for fuller busts that still want a plunge. It is in the budget to mid-range price band.

✓ Pros

  • Five listed strap configurations
  • Low back extender included
  • Padded, foam-lined plunge cups for a smooth finish

✕ Cons

  • Description does not mention silicone grip for strapless wear
  • Limited sizes listed, currently a 32D

4. Best without a metal underwire

Wonderbra Refined Glamour Strapless Bra - Black

Wonderbra Refined Glamour Strapless Bra - Black

£34.95 at Belle Lingerie · best for people who find underwires dig in

Wonderbra's Refined Glamour strapless swaps a traditional metal underwire for a specially designed plastic frame, which some people find more comfortable along the underbust. Grip comes from silicone dots on the wings and on part of the cups, so the hold is spread over more of the bra than a single strip at the top. The cups use Wonderbra's hand-shaped design to add volume and a push-up effect, so this is one for adding shape rather than a natural look. Lace and microfibre give it a dressier finish than most. It sits in the budget to mid-range price band, and the listed size is a 34F.

✓ Pros

  • Plastic frame instead of a metal underwire
  • Silicone dots on the wings and cups
  • Push-up shaping for a fuller look

✕ Cons

  • Push-up effect will not suit anyone after a natural shape
  • Single size currently listed

5. Best premium

Chantelle Norah Bandeau Strapless T Shirt Bra - Black

Chantelle Norah Bandeau Strapless T Shirt Bra - Black

£59.00 at Belle Lingerie · best for a smooth line under fitted tops

Chantelle's Norah bandeau is the pick if you want a strapless bra that disappears under a fitted top. The cups are seamless, and the retailer says they are padded only in select smaller sizes, so larger cups should be lighter and less bulky. Grip comes from both a Lycra lining and silicone bands for an anti-slip effect, and the underwired design has a wide base to centre and round the bust. Comfort details include enclosed seams and a padded hook-and-eye closure, and the back is floral lace. The straps are adjustable and detachable. It is in the premium price band, with matching Norah pieces available.

✓ Pros

  • Seamless cups for a smooth outline
  • Silicone bands and Lycra lining to resist slipping
  • Padded fastening and enclosed seams
  • Wide base for support

✕ Cons

  • Premium price
  • Padding varies by size, so check what applies to yours
  • Listing currently shows only a 32B

6. Best for low necklines

Curvy Kate Hey Girls Superplunge Strapless Bra - Latte

Curvy Kate Hey Girls Superplunge Strapless Bra - Latte

£37.80 at Belle Lingerie · best for deep V and low-cut dresses

Most strapless bras have a fairly high centre, which shows under a deep V. The Curvy Kate Hey Girls has a superplunge front so it can sit lower while staying hidden. It still has the security features you need: silicone gripper elastics, a wide underband, a cradle for hold and six hook-and-eye fastenings, which is more adjustment than most bras offer. The cups are fully lined and foam padded with a lace overlay and a small diamante charm. Optional adjustable straps are included. It is in the mid-range price band and the current listing is a 30D.

✓ Pros

  • Superplunge front for low necklines
  • Silicone gripper elastics and a wide underband
  • Six hook-and-eye fastenings
  • Optional straps

✕ Cons

  • Lace and charm may show under thin fabrics
  • Limited sizes listed, so check availability

What keeps a strapless bra up

Almost all the support in a strapless bra comes from the band. It needs to be firm enough to anchor the cups without straps, which is why many strapless styles have wider wings, more hook rows and sometimes boning in the side seams. Look for phrases like reinforced back, wide underband, boning or powernet in the description. The Goddess Verity and Sculptresse Dana both describe this kind of reinforcement.

Grip is the second part. Silicone strips or dots on the inside of the band stop the bra sliding down as you move. Some bras put it along the top edge of the back, like the Simone Perele Caresse, while others spread it across the wings and cups, as Wonderbra does. If a description does not mention any gripper elastic or silicone, assume the band will need to be very snug to stay put.

Getting the band size right

Many people find they need a strapless bra with a slightly firmer band than their everyday bra, because there is nothing to hold it up from above. A good test is that the band should feel snug on the loosest hook when new and stay level all the way round when you raise your arms. If it slides down at the back, it is too loose.

If you do go down a band size, remember to go up a cup size to keep the same cup volume. A 34D and a 32DD have roughly the same cup capacity. Do not go tighter than is comfortable, though. A band that digs in will roll and can actually make slipping worse.

Strapless versus multiway

Most bras sold as strapless also come with detachable straps, so they double as normal bras. A multiway bra goes further, letting you clip the straps into different positions such as halterneck, crossover or racerback. The Curvy Kate Superhero lists five configurations and a low back extender for backless outfits.

Multiway is useful if you own a few awkward tops, but be honest about how you will wear it. If you mostly need something for strapless dresses, put band strength and grip ahead of strap options.

Fuller busts and strapless bras

Strapless bras for fuller busts do exist, but they need more structure than smaller sizes. Look for underwiring, seamed or three-part cups, side boning and a wide band with three or more hook rows. Brands such as Goddess, Sculptresse, Curvy Kate and Panache design specifically for D cups and above.

Sizes are the main frustration in this category. Many of the listings in our range show just one or two sizes in stock at any given time, so check that yours is available before comparing anything else. Also be aware that retailer feature tags can be unreliable: a bra tagged 'padded' or 'moulded' may be described differently in the main text. Trust the description and the photos, and check the returns policy before you order.

FAQs

Should I go down a band size for a strapless bra?

Many people find a slightly firmer band helps, because there are no straps taking any weight. If you go down a band size, go up a cup size to keep the same volume, for example from 34D to 32DD. Only do this if the tighter band is still comfortable.

How do I stop my strapless bra slipping down?

Check the band first: if it moves when you lift your arms, it is too loose. Choose a bra with silicone grip on the inside of the band and fasten it on the loosest hook when new so you can tighten it as it stretches. Bras with boning or reinforced backs also hold their shape better.

Can you wear a strapless bra with a large bust?

Yes, but you need more structure. Look for underwired, seamed cups, a wide band with several hook rows and side boning. The Goddess Verity is a good example, with three-section cups, flexi-bones and powernet wings.

What is the difference between a strapless and a multiway bra?

A strapless bra is designed to stay up without straps and usually comes with detachable ones. A multiway bra has straps that can be clipped into several positions, such as halterneck, crossover or racerback. Many bras are both.

Are strapless bras comfortable for all-day wear?

A well-fitted one can be, though most people find them less comfortable than a regular bra over a long day because the band is working harder. Padded fastenings, enclosed seams and breathable cup fabrics, like those on the Chantelle Norah and Simone Perele Caresse, help.
