How buychecked works

We're an independent UK buying guide. Instead of reviewing a handful of products by hand, we check thousands — programmatically, against live merchant feeds, every day. Right now that means 15,125 products across 35 categories from Charles Bentley, Boards Direct, Belle Lingerie, Sweatband, Terralec, Perfume UK, The Big Little Duvet Company.

What we check

Live prices — refreshed from merchant feeds (Charles Bentley, Boards Direct, Belle Lingerie, Sweatband, Terralec, Perfume UK). Every product page shows the date its price was checked.
Spec accuracy — dimensions, materials, wattage, sizes and colours extracted from the merchant's own description and shown in a Checked Specifications table.
Duplicates merged — colour/size variants collapse to the cheapest option with the full range shown. One product, one page, no feed spam. Our zero-duplicate rule is enforced in code on every import.
Alternatives — every product links 3 in-price-band alternatives plus same-brand picks, so you can compare without Googling.

How we're funded

Buychecked is funded by affiliate commission: if you click through to a merchant and buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It keeps the guides free. Merchants can't pay for placement, ratings or verdicts — the checks run the same way for every product. Read the full affiliate disclosure.

Who runs it

Simon Ward — founder. Web designer and builder of programmatic buying guides, based in the UK. I build the importer, write the category methodology and verify the checks. Contact via the merchant links on any page — feedback on wrong specs or prices goes straight into the feed rules.

What we don't do

We don't hold stock or take orders — you buy from the merchant.
We don't invent test results — where we haven't hands-on tested, we say what's checked (spec, price, feed date) and what isn't.
We don't show products with no image, no description or no category.

A note on thin pages

Some trade lines (e.g. clamps, cables, single-note fragrances) arrive from merchants as a single sentence with no extractable specs. We publish them with what's verifiable — price, brand, category, live link — plus same-brand alternatives, rather than inventing detail. Brand hubs carry the depth; children carry the facts.
