Best bikinis for larger busts in the UK

By the buychecked team · Updated 9 October 2026 · Prices refresh daily from the retailer feed

A bikini top sold in dress sizes is really a triangle of fabric with a tie at the back, and for a D cup or above that rarely holds anything in place. Bikini tops sold in bra sizes are built like a bra instead: a proper underband with a hook or clasp, cups cut for fuller busts, and usually an underwire. Because the top and the briefs are sold separately, you can buy each half in the size that actually fits you.

For most people the Fantasie Saunton Sands full cup top is the best place to start. It has non-padded underwired cups with full coverage, powernet-lined wings, a concealed side sling and fully adjustable straps. If you want the lowest price band, the Panache Bette balcony top is underwired with padded cups and is currently listed up to an HH cup. For the widest cup range in one top, the Prima Donna Skudai full cup is listed from F to I cups.

Below are seven bikini tops across budget, mid-range and premium price bands, followed by advice on sizing, support and the details that matter when you are swimming rather than just sunbathing. Lingerie and swimwear stock moves quickly and most of these listings show only two or three sizes at a time, so check your size is available before you get attached to a print.

How we chose

We have not tried these bikinis on or worn them in the water. We shortlisted them by comparing the published specifications, construction details, listed sizes, price and the retailer's own product descriptions across the full range of bra-sized bikini tops we list, then picked the ones that each do something distinct for a fuller bust. We left out anything already featured in our swimsuits for larger busts guide. The retailer's 'padded' tag is often wrong, so where the tag and the written description disagree we have gone with the description and said so.

Why a bra-sized bikini top fits better

Bikinis sold as S, M and L or in dress sizes assume an average bust for each size. If your cup is larger than that, the cups will be too shallow, the straps will take the weight and the top can shift when you swim or dive. A bra-sized bikini top has a band size and a cup size, so a 32FF gets a band that fits a 32 ribcage and a cup that actually holds an FF bust.

Buying the top and briefs separately is a real advantage here. Many people with a fuller bust are a different 'size' on top and bottom, and most of the ranges in this guide sell matching briefs in dress sizes, often in more than one cut such as classic, high-waisted or tie-side. Pick the top in your bra size and the briefs in your usual knicker size.

Getting the size right

Start from your current well-fitting bra size from the same brand if you have one. Fantasie, Freya, Elomi and Panache generally size their swimwear to match their lingerie, but cut varies by style. A plunge or bandeau often feels different to a full cup in the same size, so read the brand's size guide on the retailer's page.

The band should sit level and feel firm, because wet fabric stretches and a loose band is the main reason bikini tops ride up. Stock on these sites changes daily, and almost every listing here shows only two or three sizes, so check your exact size is available. If it is not, other prints in the same range often have different sizes in stock.

Wired, padded or unlined

All seven picks are underwired, which is the most reliable way to keep a fuller bust supported and separated in water. The wire anchors the cup to your chest so it does not move with the waves. Look for powernet or power net-lined wings too, as they help the band grip.

Non-padded cups give a natural shape, add no bulk and dry faster. Lightly padded foam cups give a smoother outline and a little more coverage when wet. Be cautious with the retailer's 'padded' tag: several tops in our range, including the Freya Jewel Cove and Prima Donna Skudai, are tagged padded while the description says non-padded. Trust the written description and the product photos, and check the returns policy before you buy.

Neckline and strap styles

A full cup covers the most and gives a rounded shape. A balcony lifts and gives a wider, lower top edge. A plunge is lowest at the centre, so it relies more on the wire and lining. A bandeau is the least supportive shape unless it has a wire and a deep band, as the Fantasie Vanuatu does.

Adjustable straps are a must. Multiway and detachable straps let you switch to cross-back for swimming and remove them for sunbathing. Halternecks, like the Sunset Reef tie, give easy lift adjustment but put weight on the neck, so many larger-cup wearers prefer a cross-back or J-hook racerback for long days.

FAQs

What size bikini top should I buy for a large bust?

Choose a bikini top sold in bra sizes and start with your usual well-fitting bra size. Check the brand's size guide, as some styles run differently. Buy the briefs separately in your usual knicker size.

Are underwired bikinis good for swimming?

Yes, for a fuller bust they are usually the most secure option, provided the band fits firmly and the wire sits flat on your ribcage. Pair an underwire with adjustable or cross-back straps if you plan to swim rather than just sunbathe.

Can I wear a bandeau bikini with a big bust?

You can if the bandeau has an underwire, a deep back band and a clasp. Ones with detachable straps, such as the Fantasie Vanuatu, let you add straps back on when you go in the water.

Do bikini bottoms come with the top?

Not with bra-sized bikinis. The top and briefs are sold separately so each can be sized properly. Most of the ranges here offer matching briefs in the same print, so look for the range name on the retailer's site.

Why does a bikini listed as padded say non-padded in the description?

The retailer's product tags are not always accurate. Go by the written description and the photos, which are usually more reliable, and check the returns policy if you are unsure.

Are there bra-sized bikinis for small bands and big cups?

Yes. Freya, Fantasie and Panache all make swimwear in small band sizes. The Freya Jewel Cove plunge top, for example, is currently listed from a 28 band, and the Fantasie Sunset Reef halter from a 30.
